AUSTIN, Texas — Mia Muckenthaler and
Logan Parry added yet another accolade to their already impressive resume as the two Crusaders were named to the 2023 Academic All-America® women's soccer teams selected by the College Sports Communicators. Both student-athletes were second-team selections as the full teams were released on Wednesday by the organization.
Muckenthaler, a junior defender from Mooresville, N.C., and Parry, a senior forward from Greensboro, N.C., are the first women's soccer players in program history to earn Academic All-American honors from CSC (formerly CoSIDA).
Muckenthaler is a junior defender with a 3.84 grade-point average majoring in healthcare and business management at The Abbey. She becomes the second women's soccer student-athlete in program history to earn Scholar All-America honors from United Soccer Coaches following Rachel Coutinho, who was honored in 2017. She was the Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Year and led a backline that led the conference in fewest shots allowed. Additionally, she was a first-team All-Conference selection and a CSC Academic All-District selection for the second straight year.
Parry is a senior forward from Greensboro who currently has a 3.6 GPA and is a biology major at Belmont Abbey. Following the conclusion of the Conference Carolinas tournament, she was among the nation's leaders in scoring with 19 goals and a pair of assists. She was an All-South Region selection from United Soccer Coaches and a first-team all-conference selection and earned a spot on the CSC Academic All-District team for the second time.
The two teammates join Davis McBee from the men's soccer team to earn this recognition. Both student-athletes were also All-Southeast Region selections from the Division II Conference Commissioners Association earlier this month as well.
