BANNER ELK, N.C. — The Belmont Abbey women's soccer team continued its run of Northwest Division opposition as the Crusaders faced Lees-McRae Tuesday at Tate Field.
Hannah Willis scored her first goal of the season and
Addie Galek added an assist but it was the Bobcats who came away with the 4-2 victory.
The Crusaders are now 4-3 overall and 3-1 in league play while Lees-McRae is 3-3-1 and 2-1-1 in the league. Additionally, Belmont Abbey is now 2-1 in the division while Lees-McRae is 1-0-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Haley Long and Anna Richard both had the first shots on goal of the match for the Abbey inside the first 20 minutes.
- Lees-McRae's first goal came off a corner kick in the 32nd minute and another goal in the 36th minute on a penalty kick.
- Belmont Abbey got on the board in the 39th minute when Galek's corner kick deflected off a Bobcats defender to make it 2-1 at halftime.
- Lees-McRae added two more goals in the 47th and 53rd minute.
- Willis got the Crusaders back on the board with her goal in the 77th minute.
- Belmont Abbey had 11 shots in the match compared to nine for Lees-McRae.
- Ryleigh Dougherty made two saves in goal while Gianna Carneglia came in to play the final 27 minutes of the match.

- Belmont Abbey returns home to face Young Harris at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Alumni Field.
- The match also marks Senior Day as a total of 10 seniors will be recognized in a pre-match ceremony.
