BELMONT, N.C. -- Jayme O'Neill scored the game's only goal early in the second half and
Ryleigh Dougherty made three saves in goal, leading Belmont Abbey to a 1-0 victory over Northwest Division rival North Greenville in Conference Carolinas women's soccer action Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Crusaders improve to 4-2 overall and 3-0 in league play (2-0 in the Northwest Division. The Trailblazers fall to 1-4, 1-1, 0-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Abbey outshot NGU 25-4 overall, including 14-0 in the opening half. It also registered an advantage in corner kicks at 5-1.
- O'Neill's shot came at a sharp angle from the left side. It drifted over the keeper to the top right corner.
- Francesca Highton led the attack with six shot attempts. Anna Richard had five.
- The win was the third straight for the Crusaders.

- The Abbey continues division play on Tuesday with a trip to Lees-McRae.
