ROCK HILL, S.C. – The South Atlantic Conference announced Belmont Abbey goaltender
Chloe Parker as the conference's Defensive Player of the Week Tuesday. Parker, a sophomore, from Virgina Beach, Va., was a key part in the Crusaders' contests against Wingate and Shippensburg this past week.
Parker finished with her second shutout of the season in a 1-0 victory over Wingate in the conference opener on Wednesday. It is her 10th career shutout, extending her school record dating back to last season. Additionally, she also finished Saturday's contest with a new career-best and school record 16 saves in the contest against defending national champion Shippensburg on Saturday.
This is the third Defensive Player of the Week honors for Parker dating back to the two she earned last season.
The Crusaders return to conference play with a game at Mount Olive at 3 p.m. Wednesday.
