12/3/2025 10:30:00 AM

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Belmont Abbey's Sarah Schumacher earned All-Region honors from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Wednesday by the organization. Schumacher was earned a spot on the second team in the Atlantic Region.

Schumacher earned the honor thanks to a career season, finishing with six goals and a pair of assists in 2025 along with two game-winning goals and a defensive save. The junior from Cologne, Germany, started all 17 games for the Abbey this season and was named the South Atlantic Conference Defensive Player of the Year as well as first-team all-conference honors. She is the first Crusader in program history to earn all-region honors.

This is the first season that the NFHCA has had All-Region teams for Division II. Division II teams are separated into the Atlantic and East regions. The full teams can be found here.

The NFHCA Division II All-Region team announcement is the first in a list of NFHCA postseason awards over the next several weeks. Next to be announced are the NFHCA Regional Players of the Year on December 11, followed by the NFHCA All-American teams on December 16 and the NFHCA National Player of the Year on December 18.
