GREENVILLE, S.C. – Belmont Abbey's Austin Hasen and Brady Smith have been chosen as the weekly award winners for Conference Carolinas men's lacrosse for the week ending April 10, 2022, the league office announced today.

Hasen was selected as the Offensive Player of the Week, while Smith was tabbed as the Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. 
 
A junior on attack for Belmont Abbey from Brampton in Ontario, Canada, Hasen finished two conference wins last week for the Crusaders with 10 goals and four assists. He also collected three ground balls and had two caused turnovers. In Belmont Abbey's 20-8 home league win over Lees-McRae, Hasen had five goals, two assists, one ground ball and one caused turnover. Hasen followed that up by scoring five goals to go along with two assists, two ground balls and one caused turnover in a conference victory at Chowan. In conference only games, Hasen is second in the conference with 4.00 goals per game. He is fourth in points per game in conference games at 5.00.
 
A senior from Mason, Ohio, Smith was stellar in faceoffs last week, winning 21-of-26 (.808). He also totaled eight ground balls. In Belmont Abbey's win over Lees-McRae, Smith was 10-of-11 on faceoffs while also securing five ground balls. He was 11-of-15 on faceoffs at Chowan. Smith had three ground balls in the victory at Chowan. Smith is fourth in the conference in games played overall with 5.57 ground balls per game. Among those with over 50 faceoffs, Smith is best in the league overall with an .893 faceoff percentage.
