DiLuigi's Six Goals Lifts Men's Lacrosse Past Saint Andrews Presbyterian 15-7 In Regular Season Finale

Belmont Abbey senior midfielder Dave DiLuigi scored six goals on nine shots as the Crusaders men's lacrosse team overcame an early deficit to put away Saint Andrews 15-7 this afternoon in the regular season finale. The Crusaders end the regular season with a record of 6-5 overall and 3-2 in Conference Carolinas, while the Knights drop to 3-10 overall and 1-4 in Conference Carolinas.

Saint Andrews scored three of the game's first four goals, but the Crusaders responded with eight unanswered to go up 9-3 late in the second quarter.

After Riley Fink scored for the Knights shortly before the half, the Abbey opened the third quarter with five unanswered, two by DiLuigi, and one each from Tristan Keas, James Regan and Tanner Scharr.

Belmont Abbey outshot Saint Andrews 42-28 as DiLuigi scored six goals on nine shots with one face off win in two attempts. Scharr added three goals, while Damon DeLuca, Miles Elliott, Austin Whitesell, Dave Spivey, Keas and Regan all had one each. Brian Watson handed out three assists and won five of 11 face off attempts. Scharr chipped in with two assists, while DeLuca, Dan Morrissey and Joey Peruzzi all had one. Tony Kikola made 12 saves in the net.

Fink and Michael Thomas led Saint Andrews with two goals apiece, while Kyle Carnaggio, Andrew Pike and Bobby Murray all had one. Knights goalie Kyle Davitt stopped 16 shots.
