Five Abbey Baseball Student-Athletes Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

GREENWOOD, Ind. — Five Belmont Abbey student-athletes were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team Tuesday as the organization released the full teams.

The five Crusaders who made the Division II team are as follows: Caleb Burr, Jack Boyles, Spencer Cipro, Joe Whitaker and Jake Bidoglio. Burr is a four-time Academic All-District honoree and was a second-team Academic All-American honoree last season. Boyles is on the team for the third time while Cipro and Whitaker are making their second consecutive appearances. Bidoglio is on the team for the first time.

Burr was a consensus all-region selection from the NCBWA, ABCA and D2CCA and one of five first team All-Conference Carolinas selections for the Crusaders. He also earned All-America honors from the ABCA and NCBWA The graduated student outfielder from Mount Holly, N.C. finished the season with a .426 batting average and finished with a 20 home runs to go with a 69 runs batted in. Additionally, he finished with a 1.360 OPS, 19 doubles and 18 for 19 in stolen bases on the year. He completed his undergraduate degree in finance at Belmont Abbey and holds a 3.88 grade point average while pursuing a Master's degree in Data Analytics from the Abbey.

Boyles is on the team for the third consecutive year as the regular started at shortstop. He started and played in all 54 games for the Crusaders and finished with a .324 batting average to go with three home runs and 39 runs batted in. He also was a Conference Carolinas All-Defensive team selection for the second time in his career. The Wake Forest, N.C. native graduated from Belmont Abbey in May with a degree in biology and finished with a 3.83 GPA

Cipro is on the Academic All-District for the second time and put together a strong season for the Crusaders, earning first-team All-Conference honors and was also an all-region selection from the ABCA and NCBWA. He finished his final season at Belmont Abbey with a 3.62 ERA in 14 starts that included five complete games and a shutout. The graduate student from Brookfield, Mass. was near the top of the conference in innings pitched with 82. He graduated last May with a degree in Politics and is pursuing his Master's Degree in Sport Management, where he holds a 3.75 GPA.

Whitaker had a breakout season in his final year with the Crusaders. The graduate from Tampa, Fla. finished with a career-best .413 batting average to go with a team-high 24 home runs and 89 runs batted in. He also finished with a 1.389 OPS and earned All-America honors from the ABCA and NCBWA back in May. He graduated from Belmont Abbey in May with a degree in Data Analytics and finished with a 3.71 GPA.
Bidoglio is on the team for the first time after his season as a regular in the starting lineup. The utility player made 52 appearances in 48 starts and finished with 13 home runs and drove in 48 n the season. He also finished with an OPS of 1.003 as one of five starters to reach that mark this season. The Belmont, N.C. is studying finance and currently holds a 3.56 GPA.

Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 23, 2026. The Division II CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-26 Division II Academic All-America® programs.
