GREENSBORO, N.C. — Belmont Abbey graduates
Joe Whitaker and
Caleb Burr continued to add to their postseason accolades as the two outfielders earned All-America honors as the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) released its All-America teams Friday.
Whitaker was named to the first team while Burr was a second-team honoree. This is the second All-American team that the two have been named to after earning spots on the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) team earlier this month.
Additionally, the two Crusaders are the first to earn spots on the teams since Nick Heinblich did so back in 2017. He was a second-team selection that season.
Whitaker finished the 2026 with a .413 average and started all 54 games for Belmont Abbey this season. He finished with 24 home runs and drove in 89 runs to set new career high totals and lead the team. He was a first-team All-Conference Carolinas selection and earned spots on the All-Region teams from the ABCA, NCBWA and D2CCA.
Burr led the team in batting average with a .426 mark on the season as he finished with 20 home runs and 69 runs batted in. He also finished 18 of 19 in stolen bases this season and 1.360 OPS. He was also a first-team All-Conference Selection and earned spots on the All-Region teams from the ABCA and NCBWA.
