4/28/2026 3:00:00 PM

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Belmont Abbey senior pitcher Drew Stegura was named the Conference Carolinas Pitcher of the Year as he and seven other Crusaders as the full All-Conference and All-Defensive baseball teams were released by the league office on Tuesday.

Belmont Abbey had five student-athletes named first-team all-conference while two-others were named to the All-Defensive team. Stegura and Spencer Cipro were both named first team starting pitchers, Ethan Yarbrough is a first-team relief pitcher selection while Joe Whitaker and Caleb Burr are both first-team outfielders. Additionally, Jack Boyles and Matthew Fattore were both named to the All-Defensive team at shortstop and utility, respectively.

The all-conference awards were selected by the league's head coaches.

Stegura put together an outstanding season for the Crusaders, finishing with 9-0 record with 13 appearances and 11 starts. Over 67.0 innings pitched, he finished with a 2.69 ERA and finished with 73 strikeouts over the course of the season. This is Stegura's second all-conference selection after earning a spot two seasons ago. Based on records available dating back to 2006, Stegura is the first Crusader to be named Conference Carolinas Pitcher of the Year. In that time, he held opponents to a .209 batting average and was tabbed Conference Carolinas Pitcher of the Week twice this season.

Cipro is back on the team for the second straight year. The graduate student led Belmont Abbey in innings pitched with 72.2 and made 12 starts, including five complete games. Like Stegura, he also finished with a 9-0 record. He finished the regular season with a 2.85 ERA and 45 strikeouts compared to 25 walks. He is also credited with a shutout in a star against King back on March 21st.

Whitaker is on his first all-conference team after a breakout senior season. The senior from Tampa has put together a career year, finishing the regular season with a .422 batting average over starting all 48 games to go with 22 home runs and 80 runs batted in. He also has 17 doubles on the season and earned Conference Carolinas Player of the Week honors earlier this season.

Burr is back on the team for the second straight year. After earning several accolades this season, he's followed that up with a .429 batting average to go with 18 home runs and 67 runs batted in. He's also the team leader in stolen bases, going 17 of 18 on attempts this season. Defensively, he has five outfield assists on the year.

Yarbrough rounds out the five Crusaders who earned all-conference honors. He's been one of the top relievers for Belmont Abbey, making 22 appearances out of the bullpen with 31.2 innings pitched and recording 28 strikeouts to 12 walks. He has a 3.13 ERA and is 6-0 on the season.

Boyles earned his second all-defensive team honor in his career for the Abbey. As the starter at shortstop, Boyles is credited with 134 assists and a .963 fielding percentage. He's also been a part of 20 double plays for the Crusaders this season. Fattore is on the all-defensive team for the first time as a utility player. He's started at five different positions this season, showing defensive versatility with a .984 fielding percentage and just two errors on the season.
