GREENVILLE, S.C. — Belmont Abbey senior goalkeeper Summer Eddinger was named the Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Week by the league office Monday. Eddinger was a standout in goal for the Crusaders, finishing with 11 saves and a ground ball in a 14-5 win over Shepherd Saturday.

She had a .688 save percentage which is the most she has had in a full game this season as she faced 22 shots from the Rams.

This is also the second time that she has earned Conference Defensive Player of the Week and it is the fourth consecutive week that a Crusader has earned a weekly award from the conference office. Caitlyn Marone has won the award twice this season as well for the Abbey.

Belmont Abbey returns to action Saturday to face Montevallo. The opening draw is scheduled for a noon start from Alumni Field.
