GREENVILLE, S.C. — Belmont Abbey's
Caitlyn Marone was named the Conference Carolinas Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week by the league office Monday.
It is the second time in the last three weeks she's earned the award and also the third week in a row that a Crusader has won it.
Summer Eddinger was named as the award winner last week.
Marone was solid defensively for Belmont Abbey last week.. Her six ground balls and four caused turnovers against Wingate both set career-highs. For the week, Marone posted nine ground balls and five caused turnovers. She added three ground balls and one caused turnover in a win over Newberry.
Belmont Abbey returns to the field Saturday against Shepherd. The game is scheduled for an early 10 a.m. start at Alumni Field.
