INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Belmont Abbey's
Caleb Burr has been selected Academic All-America by the College Sports Communicators, the organization announced today. Voting was conducted among the organization's members. He is listed on the second team.
The award completes a flurry of postseason honors for the senior outfielder from Mt. Holly, N.C., both on an off the field.. He was named to three all-region second teams last month -- by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA). He was also a first-team all-conference selection.
Burr finished the season with a .353 batting average and led the team with 16 home runs and 62 runs batted in. Additionally, he finished with a .686 slugging percentage, 19 doubles and a perfect 21 for 21 in stolen bases on the year.
Academically, Burr was the Conference Carolinas Scholar-Athlete of the Year for baseball, graduating on the morning of the season finale with a 3.91 grade-point average in Finance.
