SALISBURY, N.C. and MOUNT OLIVE, N.C — Belmont Abbey baseball student-athletes
Caleb Burr and
Spencer Cipro both earned All-Southeast Region honors from both the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) over the past week by the respective organizations.
Both Crusaders were named to the second team after earning Conference Carolinas first team honors this season.
Burr finished the season with a .353 batting average and led the team with 16 home runs and 62 runs batted in. Additionally, he finished with a .686 slugging percentage, 19 doubles and a perfect 21 for 21 in stolen bases on the year. He ended the year on a strong note, hitting two home runs in an NCAA Southeast Regional game against North Georgia on Saturday.
Cipro was one of the top starting pitchers in the region this season, finishing with a 10-3 record and 17 appearances with 14 starts. He was near the top of the conference in innings pitched (91.2) and threw five complete games on the season. He finished with a 3.44 ERA and 64 strikeouts compared to just 23 walks.
