2023-24 Belmont Abbey Men's Basketball Schedule
BELMONT, N.C. —A new Conference Carolinas scheduling model and 12 home games highlight the 2023-24 Belmont Abbey Men's Basketball schedule, head coach
David Belfield announced today. The 28-game slate includes three NCAA Tournament teams from a year ago and a trio of games against opponents within an hour's drive of campus.
The season opens in traditional fashion as the Crusaders travel to Wingate, N.C. for the SAC-Conference Carolinas Challenge against the host Bulldogs and Mars Hill on November 10 and 11. After a pair of games against CIAA opponents Johnson C. Smith and St. Augustine, Catawba will visit the Wheeler Center on Nov. 21 for the home opener.
"We are very excited and thankful for the schedule that our staff has put together," Belfield said. "The early challenges against competitive regional opponents will help us grow as we prepare for another challenging year in Conference Carolinas. After a few road games, I know our team will be eager to take the floor in the Wheeler Center in front of our incredible supporters." A revamped Conference Carolinas schedule has The Abbey opening conference play at home December 2 against Barton.
New for the 2023-24 season, the league has been split into three divisions with Belmont Abbey competing against King, Lees-McRae and Converse in the Northwest Division. Teams play home-and-home within the division and will play every school in the conference at least once. The conference opener is Dec. 2 against Barton and concludes Feb. 28 at Francis Marion.
The Conference tournament features 12 teams with seeding being determined using the KPI rating. The opening rounds will take place March 3 and 4 on campus sites with the quarterfinals, semifinals and championship game taking place March 8-10 at Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium on the Wofford College campus in Spartanburg, S.C.
