Davis Leads Four in Double Figures against Shorter

BELMONT, N.C. -- Franklin Davis led four four players in double figures with 13 points but a hot shooting second half by Shorter lifted the Hawks to an 80-69 victory over Belmont Abbey in Conference Carolinas Carolina basketballs action Wednesday night. 

With the result, both teams sit at 5-7 overall and 3-3 in league play.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • Davis scored a team-high 13 points, hitting five baskets, including three three-pointers.
  • Gabe Cerda and Judah Ravenell tallied 12 points each while Matas Pituizas added 10 points. 
  • Daniel Lubamba grabbed a team-high seven rebounds with Ravenell just one behind at six. 
  • Seven different players were credited with at least one assist, led by Cerda, Ravenell and Lubamba with three each. 
  • Shorter hit 17 of 27 shots (63.0 percent) in the second half, including 11 of 12 at one point. It helped the Hawks to a 17-4 run that turned a 48-48 tie into a 65-52 lead with 5:33 remaining.
