WINGATE, N.C.—Three Belmont Abbey baseball players earned spots on the 2022 All-Southeast Region Teams from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA). Outfielder
Sean Johnson, shortstop
Ben Gobbel and first baseman
Ben Ferguson all earned spots on the second team. The full team was released Thursday, prior to the start of the NCAA Southeast Regional Thursday.
Johnson was one of three outfielders named rounds out the outfield, hitting .353 with 14 homers, 17 doubles, 42 RBI and 65 runs scored. He had previously been named first-team all-Conference Carolinas.
Gobbel led team the team with a .365 batting average with 15 home runs and 68 runs batted in. In addition, he also was 12 for 15 in stolen bases this season, all of which were team bests. The 15 home runs is also tied for the conference lead and the 68 RBI is second-best in the league. He was named to the All-Southeast Region team from the D2CCA Wednesday.
Ben Ferguson hitting .347 on the year with 14 homers, 14 doubles and 50 RBI, scoring 62 runs. He led the conference with 51 walks and was second in the league in on-base percentage (.524) and OPS (1.207).
Conference Carolinas placed a region best 14 student-athletes on the 2022 All-Southeast Region Teams.
