BELMONT, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey baseball team opened the 2019 season with an impressive offensive performance, scoring 15 runs on 12 hits. The Crusaders improve to 1-0 on the season and will play Newberry again tomorrow in Newberry, S.C.

• Mason Dodd lifted a grand slam over the right-field fence in the sixth inning.
• Richard DeLaCruz recorded three hits including two RBI and four runs scored.
• Drew Sipp went 2-for-3 with two runs driven in.
• Griffin Baker earned his first win of the year pitching 4.1 innings with 10 strikeouts.
• Sam Luchansky came on in relief and recorded five strikeouts.
