Women's Volleyball Opens Home Schedule With 3-0 Win Over Claflin

Four Belmont Abbey women's volleyball players hit .400 or better as the Crusaders moved their record to 8-2 with an easy 3-0 win over the visiting Claflin University Panthers this evening before 325 in attendance in the Wheeler Center. All ten of the Abbey's matches have been decided by 3-0 scores. Claflin drops to 3-2 with the loss.

The Crusaders hit .398 as a team as Lydia Schellenberg's .579 attack produced a match-high 13 kills and a team-high eight digs. Angela Jubb hit .533 with ten kills on 15 total attacks to go along with six digs and two block assists. Kay Schellenberg and Remick Tiller both hit an even .400 as, Tiller knocked down three kills while Schellenberg posted two to go along with 38 assists and four digs. Hannah Schellenberg added eight kills..

Defensively, the Abbey outdug Claflin 36-21 and registed a pair of team blocks.

Belmont Abbey is back in action Friday night at 7:00 p.m. when it hosts Pfeiffer on "Flashback Friday" as the Athletic Department dedicates the evening to the decade of the 1990s.
