BANNER ELK, N.C. -- Belmont Abbey rallied from two sets down to force a fifth set but Southern Wesleyan took the decider to earn a 3-2 (25-21, 25-17, 21-25, 22-25, 15-10) victory over the Crusaders in the first round of the Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Tournament Saturday afternoon.

The Abbey, seeded 11th, finished the campaign at 11-17, while the eighth-seeded Warriors (14-12) advanced to the second round against Lees-McRae.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Katie Brookins posted a team-high 13 kills while Jordan Medina (11) and Lola Sultenfuss (10) also reach double figures. 
• Emma Youngblood registered her 13th double-double of the year with 43 assists and 15 digs
• Kyleigh Coghlan was the team's digs leader with 16, while Mallory Swain tallied 15. The duo combined for three of BAC's four service aces, while Coghlan having a pair. Renata Bolado tallied the other
