Women's Volleyball Places Four on CSC Academic All-District List

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Four Belmont Abbey women's volleyball student-athletes have been named Academic All-District by College Sports Communicators (CSC), the organization announced today. Katie Brookins, Chloe Lowder, Mallory Swain and Kyleigh Coghlan were recognized for outstanding efforts on the court and in the classroom.

To be eligible for selection, players must hold a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average after their first year of enrollment and must by a significant contributor to their team, with appearances in 90 percent of the team's matches or starts in 67 percent.

Chloe Lowder and Kyleigh Coghlan are slated to graduate from The Abbey in May with business management degrees. Lowder is a senior middle blocker from Mount Pleasant, N.C. with a 3.83 GPA, while Coghlan hails from Dousman, Wis., and had a 3.75 GPA. Brookings, a sophomore from Simpsonville, S.C., has a 4.0 GPA as a biology major, while Swain, a junior from St. Johns, Fla. is a pre-nursing major with a 3.87 GPA.

The announcement extends the program's success in the classroom. Earlier this week, four Crusaders were listed as Academic All-Conference Carolinas. In addition to Lowder and Coghlan, Ava Brown and Mary Grace Hogue received the honor. Under Head Coach Toni Fox's mentorship, 40 student-athletes have been recognized by the league as Academic All-Conference.
