Women's Volleyball Sweeps Claflin, 3-0 For School-Record 19th Win

The Belmont Abbey women's volleyball team broke the single season school record with its 19th win of the season as it posted a 3-0 sweep at Claflin this evening in Orangeburg, South Carolina. Set scores were 25-21, 25-12 and 25-21.The Abbey has swept the Panthers in both matches this season as it moves its record to 19-4. The 19 wins surpasses the mark of 18 which was set by the previous two teams. Claflin falls to 12-8.

Crusaders freshman Caitlin Hankins hit .688 as she knocked down 12 kills on 16 attacks with just one error (.688) and classmate Hannah Schellenberg led all players with 13 kills. Tori Jensen added nine. Kay Schellenberg handed out 40 assists and posted two block assists. The Crusaders amassed a .280 hitting percentage.

Defensively, Lydia Schellenberg led all players with 19 digs. She also had a block assist. Remick Tiller added 11 digs as the Crusaders recorded 53 on the night. Claflin entered the match second nationally in service aces per set but the Abbey did not give up an ace on the night. Angela Jubb posted three block assists.
