Women's Volleyball Falls In Five At Queens

Belmont Abbey freshman Hannah Schellenberg posted career-highs with 22 kills and 22 digs, but Queens rallied from a 2-1 deficit to earn a 3-2 win this afternoon in a Conference Carolinas matchup. Set scores were 25-13, 23-25, 25-21, 13-25 and 12-15. Queens improves to 13-8 overall and 9-1 in Conference Carolinas, while the Abbey, which had its nine-match winning streak stopped, falls to 18-4 overall and 10-2 in Conference Carolinas. The Abbey's nine match winning streak began after losing to Queens 3-2 on September 15. The two losses to Queens by 3-2 scores are the only two non 3-0 decisions for the Crusaders this season.

Schellenberg led all players with 22 kills on 54 total attacks with seven errors (.278) to go along with 22 digs. Both totals led all players as the Abbey registered 101 digs to 77 for the Abbey. Lydia Schellenberg and Angela Jubb both totaled 10 kills and Caitlin Hankins added seven. Kay Schellenberg handed out 44 assists.

Defensively, six Crusaders reached double figures in digs as Lydia and Kay Schellenberg both totaled 16, Remick Tiller scooped up 15, while Julianne Pisano and Jubb both recorded 13. Jubb logged two block assists.

Keri Kemp led Queens with 13 kills as the Royals hit .162 for the match. Belmont Abbey recorded a .160 attack.
