The Belmont Abbey women's soccer was shutout 3-0 this evening at Rollins in the season opener for both teams. Rollins scored twice in the first half and added one more in the 59th minute.

Tonight's matchup pitted a pair of teams who reached the NCAA Tournament last season and were playing their first matches since losing in the first round last November. Rollins outshot the Abbey 19-5 and registered all ten corner kicks in the match as it opened up a lead it would never lose just 9:09 into the match on a header goal by Allie Holly.

21 minutes later, Anita Cox doubled the lead when she pounced on a loose ball in the Crusader penalty area and scooted a shot past Hannah Kohls for the score.

12 minutes into the second half, the Tars closed the scoring as Ashley Waplinger sent a cross to the center of the box, where Charlotte Murrell redirected the pass with her head, beating Kohls for the final goal of the evening.

Five different Crusaders recorded shots. Kohls made four saves in the net.

The Crusaders are back in action Sunday at noon when they face Lynn on the Rollins campus.
