Belmont Abbey sophomore Elyse Mohn led all players with four
goals on five shots as the Crusaders women's lacrosse team clinched
a spot in next weekend's Conference Carolinas tournament with a 9-7
road win at St. Andrews Presbyterian this afternoon. The Crusaders
climb to 5-6 overall and 4-1 in Conference Carolinas, while St.
Andrews falls to 5-10 overall and 2-4 in Conference Carolinas.
Belmont Abbey found the back of the net nine times on 20 shots
as Mohn led all players with four goals. Susan Killeavy added a
pair. Kim Taylor, Lindsay Connolly and Lauren Dichiara all had one
each. All nine of the Abbey goals were unassisted.
Kim McDaniel, Megan Jolly and Allie Faulhaber each led the
Knights with two goals. Anna Egeln had the other. McDaniel finished
with two assists, while Faulhaber and Jolly had one each.
The Crusaders won the draw control battle 10-8 and held a 30-29
edge in ground balls. Killeavy's three draw control wins led all
players. Goalkeeper Tory Morgan made six saves and led all players
with six ground balls. Laura Dowd finished with five. Mary
Frommling caused a team-high two turnovers as the Crusaders totaled
six on the afternoon.
