BELMONT, N.C. — Olivia Ritchie and
Macy Lashells tallied five goals each as the Belmont Abbey women's lacrosse team entered the Easter break with a 26-2 win over Southern Wesleyan Tuesday at Alumni Field.
Ritchie finished with a career-high five goals to go with an assist while Lashells also scored five times against the Warriors.
Alena Clough scored four times as all three Crusaders finished with career high of the day.
Addyson Greenspan and
Katelyn Miller each had had tricks while
Emerson Sheyda scored twice in the win.
Triniti Cassidy was credited with three assists and nine draw controls while
Summer Eddinger made three saves.
Belmont Abbey improves to 9-4 overall and 5-1 in Conference Carolinas play and have won its last three games. Southern Wesleyan is now 3-10 and 2-5 in the league following Tuesday's game.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cassidy got the scoring started just over a minute and a half into the game.
- After Southern Wesleyan tied the game, Miller and Sheyda accounted for two goals each to close the quarter with a 5-1 lead.
- Belmont Abbey kept things rolling in the second quarter with 10 goals in the period.
- Clough scored three times in the second quarter while Greenspan, Lashells and Ritchie scored twice.
- The Crusaders scored the first two goals of the second half with a woman-up advantage.
- Belmont Abbey had a run of 23 unanswered goals before Southern Wesleyan tallied its second goal in the fourth quarter.
- Ritchie and Clough capped off the scoring in the closing minutes.
- Belmont Abbey finished with a season-high 15 assists.
- The Abbey finished with 15 caused turnovers and 30 ground balls, both season bests.

- Belmont Abbey concludes its home slate with a contest against Young Harris on April 8.
