Five Crusaders Tally Multi-Goal Games as Abbey Defeats NGU

BELMONT, N.C. — Katelyn Miller, Macy Lashells and Abbey McCarthy scored three goals each while Triniti Cassidy and Addyson Greenspan scored twice as the Belmont Abbey women's lacrosse team defeated North Greenville 16-7 Wednesday evening at Alumni Field.

The Crusaders also used a big third quarter, scoring five goals and shutting out the Trailblazers in the quarter to help take the game.

Summer Eddinger picked up her eighth win of the season and made six saves in the contest.

With Wednesday's result, Belmont Abbey improves to 8-4 overall, 4-1 in Conference Carolinas play while North Greenville is 3-8 overall and 2-1 In league play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Miller tallied the first goal less than two minutes into the contest.
  • After NGU answered to tie the game, McCarthy gave the Crusaders the lead with 6:37 left in the quarter.
  • Cassidy and Miller each scored as Belmont Abbey took a 4-2 lead at the end of the first quarter.
  • Lashells scored two of her three goals in the second quarter, including a buzzer-beater to end the first half to take a 7-3 lead.
  • Four of the five goals scored in the third quarter came with a woman-up advantage.
  • Lashells, McCarthy and Miller all completed their hat tricks in the fourth quarter.
  • Greenspan also recorded a pair of assists.
  • Belmont Abbey finished with 27 ground balls led by four from Miller.
  • The Crusaders had 10 caused turnovers while Taylor Tobin had four draw controls.

UP NEXT
  • Belmont Abbey will face Southern Wesleyan at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Alumni Field.
  • It will be the final home game before the Easter break for the Crusaders.
