The Belmont Abbey volleyball team earned its school-record 13th
win of the year with a 3-1 win at Queens this evening, winning by
scores of 25-23, 23-25, 25-23 and 25-21. The Crusaders, winners of
five of their last seven, improve to 13-6 overall and 6-3 in
Conference Carolinas, while Queens drops to 11-6 overall and 5-4 in
Conference Carolinas. The Abbey's 13 wins are the most since 2005,
when the Crusaders finished with 12 wins. The 12 wins were the
previous school record.
The Abbey hit .202 as Angela Jubb led all players with 12 kills
on 24 attacks with four errors (.333) while Bria James added 11
kills on 28 attacks with four errors (.250). Setter Kay
Schellenberg handed out 32 assists and logged two service aces.
Defensively, the Crusaders recorded 65 digs as James led the way
with 15 to post a double double. Lydia Schellenberg added 14, while
Remick Tiller and Julianne Pisano had 13 and ten,
respectively.
Brittany Harvey led the Royals with 11 kills, while Keri Kemp
added 10.
