Fresh off of winning its first Conference Carolinas title, the
Belmont Abbey baseball team is ranked 19th in the country according
to the lastest rankings by Ping Baseball. It is the highest
national ranking in the program's history.
Belmont Abbey captured its first league title with a 7-2 win
over Erskine in the Conference Carolinas Championship game. The
Abbey battled its way back from the losers bracket and won
six-straight games, including five in two days, to capture the
title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Southeast Regionals.
The Crusaders will prepare for the NCAA Regionals by playing six
games, starting with Wednesday afternoon's tilt against Francis
Marion, and the final home doubleheader of the year against Seton
Hill on Saturday. The Abbey will wrap up the regular season with a
road game at USC Aiken, which is currently ranked number one in the
southeast region, and a doubleheader at Lenoir-Rhyne on April
29.
