Baseball Extends Winning Streak To Eight with 28-13 Win Over Bloomsburg

The Belmont Abbey baseball team extended its winning streak to eight with a 28-13 win over visiting Bloomsburg this afternoon at Abbey Yard. The Crusaders improve to 19-8, while Bloomsburg falls to 2-7.

The Abbey pounded out 21 hits as it scored in every inning but the third and the seventh, and exploded for ten runs in the eighth. Sophomore second baseman Alex Castellanos did the majority of the damage, finishing 4-6 with nine RBI and three runs scored. He homered twice and doubled. Seth Waller also finished 4-6 as he drove in four runs, and centerfielder Patrick Atwell drove in four as he went 3-3 with six runs scored.

Casey Rowe earned the win after allowing three runs on four hits in three and two-thirds innings. Chris Tressler took the loss after allowing 13 runs, 12 earned, on 13 hits in four and two-thirds innings.

The Abbey is back in action Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 when it hosts Lander.
