Misenheimer, NC---Pfeiffer and Belmont-Abbey split a CVAC
baseball double-header Saturday afternoon. Abbey took the first
game 8-1 but the Falcons bounced back and won the second 7-3.
Pfeiffer improves to 19-20 overall and 9-8 in the conference.
Abbey is now 26-14 and 14-6.
GAME ONE
Pfeiffer tied the game in the bottom of the first when Bryan
Braxton singled home Ryan Harju to tie the game at one.
Abbey scored two in the second to retake the lead at 3-1.
Abbey added another run in the fourth.
Pfeiffer got two runners on in the fifth but could not
capitalize and still trailed 4-1.
Abbey added four more to win 8-1.
Andrew Oliver took the loss for Pfeiffer and Andy Helms got the
win for Belmont.
GAME TWO
Seth Waller hit a home run in the second to give Abbey a 1-0
lead.
The Falcon bats awoke in the fifth. A hit by pitch and error
gave Pfeiffer two baserunners. Ryan Brown drove in the first
Falcon run with a Sac Fly. Daniel Brown doubled in two to give the
Falcons a 3-1 lead. Bryan Braxton followed with a RBI double to
make the score 4-1.
Abbey came back with two in the sixth on a two run home run by
Alex Udwari to cut the Falcon lead to 4-3.
Pfeiffer came right back in the bottom of the sixth. After two
outs Justin Ridenhour hit a solo home run to build the lead to
5-3. Ryan Harju doubled in two to extend Pfeiffer's lead to
7-3.
Jonathan McDaniel struck out the side in the seventh to seal his
complete game win.
Pfeiffer will play Belmont-Abbey in a single game Sunday at 1:00
pm.
