EMPORIA, Kan. -- Freshman
Brielle George was successful on her first attempt in the high jump Saturday afternoon at the NCAA Division II Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship, but missed her next three to tie for 15th among the 22 competitors.
George cleared the opening height of 1.62m (5'-3.75") before three misses at 1.67m (5'-5.75"). One competitor did not make the opening height, while two others had a miss before making it to the second round. That left George in a five-way tie for 15th.
A standout on the women's basketball team, George set Conference Carolinas and school records in winning the league championship with a jump of 1.74m (5'-8.50").
