TEMPE, Ariz. — The Belmont Abbey men's and women's tennis both earned ranking recognition from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Wednesday afternoon.
The men's tennis team was ranked No. 28 in the latest Division II rankings while Nguyen was ranked No. 48 in the Division II Singles women's tennis rankings.
The Crusaders are inside the Top 30 as the beginning of Conference Carolinas play looms over the next few days as the Crusaders are 6-8 on the season. The team enters conference play as the three-time defending Conference Tournament champions.
On the women's side,
Kaitlin Nguyen is ranked inside the Top 50 and is the first Crusader women's tennis player under head coach Mike Salomon to be ranked individually in the modern era.
The ITA Rankings Algorithm is based on an accumulation of win points and loss points, accounting for a win-loss record, the strength of schedule, and the depth/significance of wins and losses. As the season progresses, the value of wins and losses are constantly adjusted.
