SUMTER, S.C. — The Belmont Abbey women's tennis team closed out its Conference Carolinas Tournament run with a match against Erskine in the championship Saturday afternoon at the Palmetto Tennis Center.
The Crusaders battled but it was the Flying Fleet who came away with the 4-1 victory.
Erskine took two of the three doubles matches as
Rebekka Collyer and
Leilany Sanchez winning at No. 3 doubles.
Hanley Riner earned a win in No. 4 singles with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Maria C. Padovani.
The Crusaders conclude the season with a 21-8 record after making its first appearance in a conference tournament title match in 27 years. Erskine is the automatic qualifier for the NCAA Tournament.
