HARTSVILLE, S.C. — The Belmont Abbey acrobatics & tumbling team put together a season-high score as the Crusaders competed against Coker Friday evening at the Deloach Center. Despite the effort, it was the Cobras who came away with a 253.975-244.065 victory over the Crusaders.
With the result, Belmont Abbey is now 0-4 overall and in Conference Carolinas competition. Coker is now 3-1 overall and 3-1 in the league.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Event 1 — Compulsory
The meet opened with Belmont Abbey scoring a 33.35 compared to a 36.35 for Coker. The two best scores for the Crusaders came in the Toss heat and Pyramid heat with scores of 9.5 and 9.35, respectively.
Event 2 — Acro
In the Acro event, the Crusaders finished with a 25.6 total score from a 29.25 total start value. The best score for the Abbey came in 7 Element Acro, scoring a 9.05/9.95.

Coker scored 27.30/29.80 in the event.
Event 3 — Pyramid
Belmont Abbey concluded the first half of the meet putting up good scores in the event, scoring a 9.1 or higher in all three heats. The best scores came in Heat 1 (9.1/9.5) and Heat 3 (9.5/10).

Alyssa Westbrook competed in both heats for the Abbey.
The Crusaders scored 27.80 points compared to 28.25 for the Cobras and Coker led 91.90-86.75 at halftime.
Event 4 — Toss
The meet continued with good scores in the Toss event, with Belmont Abbey scoring 8.45 or higher in all three heats. The two best scores came in Heats 1 and 3, scoring an 8.7/9.0 and 8.8/9.4, in those respective heats.
The Cobras scored 26.55/28.80.
Event 5 — Tumbling
The Crusaders scored 49.175 points in the event.
In the team passes, Hunt and Lanier scored an 8.0/8.6 in the Duo Pass while
Tia Fluellen,
Mckenna Shane and
Meagan Henry scored an 8.2/8.75 in the Trio pass.
The individual passes also saw good marks for the Crusaders with the best coming from Fluellen, scoring a 9.225/9.55 in the Aerial Pass. Hunt added an 8.15/8.6 in the 6 Element Pass while Henry scored an 8.4/8.75 in the Open Pass.
Coker scored a 53.475/56 in the event.
Event 6 — Team Event
The meet concluded with Belmont Abbey scoring an 82.19/96.19 compared to an 82.050/98.20 for Coker. The 82.19 is a season best for the Crusaders.
