GREENVILLE, S.C. — Belmont Abbey senior right-hander
Drew Stegura was named the Conference Carolinas Pitcher of the Week by the league office Tuesday. It is the second time in the last three weeks that Stegura has received the honor.
The senior tossed seven innings and earned the win against a UNC Pembroke team that is ranked or receiving votes in all three national baseball polls. In the outing, he only allowed two runs and three hits and struck out four in the 10-7 Belmont Abbey win.
For the season, Stegura is 4-0 with 35 strikeouts, 11 walks and 1.67 ERA over 32.1 innings pitched. Batters have only hit .198 against him this season. He is third in the conference in ERA among starting pitchers this season.
The Crusaders return to action with a midweek contest against Lander Tuesday followed by a three-game series at North Greenville this weekend.
