WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Mia Williams and Elizabeth Young just missed podiums in their events and Elizabeth Woodruff placed fifth in the weight throw, highlighting Belmont Abbey's efforts Sunday on the first day of the 2026 Conference Carolinas Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship, held at the JDL Fast Track.

Williams scored 2,919 points over the five events of the pentathlon, winning the 800m portion. Her point total was just 71 off the school record. Young cut 20 seconds off her personal best in the 5000m, running the second-fastest indoor time in school history, while Woodruff earned The Abbey's best finish ever in a women's throwing event.

After five events, the Crusaders stand seventh as a team with 12 points. The meet concludes tomorrow.
