GREENVILLE, S.C. — Belmont Abbey junior defender
Caitlyn Marone was named the Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Week Monday by the league office.
Marone was a key part of the Crusader defense, finishing with three ground balls and three caused turnovers in a 23-1 win over Shorter on Saturday.
She was part of a defensive unit that held the Hawks to just four shots on the day. The result also gave Belmont Abbey its first win of the season.
The Crusaders are on the road once again for a Conference Carolinas contest at Emmanuel Tuesday. The game is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start from Franklin Springs, Georgia.
