GREENVILLE, S.C. — The Belmont Abbey women's lacrosse team was selected as the preseason favorite in the Conference Carolinas preseason coaches poll released Thursday by the league office. The preseason poll was voted on by the league's head coaches and they can't vote for their own school.
The Crusaders received 96 points and six first-place votes to edge out Mount Olive's 95 points and five first-place votes. Belmont Abbey captured a share of its first conference regular season title in program history last season and advanced to the Conference Carolinas Tournament championship game.
Young Harris was picked third in the poll followed by Barton and North Greenville to round out the top five.
The 2026 Conference Carolinas Women's Lacrosse Championship starts with quarterfinal games on campus sites April 20. The semifinals and championship game will take place at the Young Harris Lacrosse Field in Young Harris, Georgia on April 23 with the title game to follow on April 25.
