Crusaders Begin Busy Spring Break with Meet at King

BRISTOL, Tenn. — The Belmont Abbey acrobatics & tumbling team returned to the mat for the first two meets this week starting at King Tuesday at the Student Complex Center.

The Crusaders ended up dropping its second conference match of the season, falling 247.180-227.950 to the Tornado.

Belmont Abbey is now 4-2 overall and in Conference Carolinas competition while King is now 2-4 overall and in the league.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Event 1 — Compulsory
The Crusaders scored 34.30 points in the compulsory event compared to 35.70 for the Tornado. The two best scores came in the Toss and Pyramid heats, scoring 9.55 and 9.45, respectively.

Event 2 — Acro
Belmont Abbey finished with a total of 25.15 points with the Crusaders earning a 9.45/10 in 7 Element (Heat 3) and 9.0/9.6 in 6 Element (Heat 2). Competing in 7 Element was Lauren Phillips, Erena Chaples, Mackenzie Linegar, Mauriella Beauchamp and Katilyn Blakeney. King scored a 27.10 in the event.

Event 3 — Pyramid
The Crusaders finished with a 23.85 total compared to 27.85 for King. Belmont Abbey's best heat came in the Inversion Pyramid, with a 9.2 out of a 9.7 start value. Competing for the Abbey was Gabrielle Cox, Deanna Woolard, Kylie Brophy, Sarah Brady, Roy Gannon, Reese Johnson, Chaples and Linegar.
Belmont Abbey trailed 90.65-83.30 at halftime.

Event 4 — Toss
Belmont Abbey's best performance in relation to start value came in this event, scoring a 26.5 out of a possible 28.2 points. The best score came in the Open Toss, scoring a 9.05/9.6. Cox,

Johnson and Blakeney competed in the heat along with Molly Froman, Alyssa Westbrook and Anna Audet.

The best score in relation to start value was in the Synchronized Toss, scoring an 8.95/9.3. Belmont Abbey took the event 26.5-25.95 over King.

Event 5 — Tumbling
The Crusaders finished with a total of 46.35 out of a possible 53.05 points. The best score in the team passes came in the Trio Pass with Woolard, Tia Fluellen and Trinity Martinez scoring a 7.75/8.75. Additionally, the Quad pass team of Cox, Chaples, Audra Kaiser and Payton Lanier scored a 7.5/8.

Fluellen added a strong 9.2/9.55 in the Open Pass as one of the best scores of the night for the Abbey.

Event 6 — Team Event
Belmont Abbey closed the meet with a 71.80/97.94 in the team event. King scored a 79.28/94.83.
