SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Paeton Phillippi put together her best round of the Conference Carolinas Tournament so far as the Crusaders continued play with the second round of the championship Monday at Carolina Country Club.
 
The junior finished with a 76 in her second round and sits in a tie for fifth with Victoria Morelli of Mount Olive and Terra Schmitt of Barton. She currently has a two-round total of 156.
 
As a team, the Crusaders are in fifth place after a 326 as a team in the second round. Bridget Forgatch and Lilianna Carcel both shot rounds of 83 while Ashlan Tresca shot 84. Forgatch is currently tied for 18th with four other competitors.
 
Emmanuel's Mara Martinez continues to lead after a 3-over 75 and leads by three shots over Nicole Kramer of North Greenville (74-76) and Converse's Lizzie Madden (79-71). North Greenville (302-321—623) leads the team standings with Mount Olive (327-313—640) and King (322-319—641) sitting second and third, respectively.
