Chaples Repeats as Specialist of the Year; Brophy, Grady Named All-Conference

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Belmont Abbey senior Erena Chaples garnered Specialist of the Year honors for the second straight season as she was one of three Crusaders to earn a spot on the Conference Carolinas Acrobatics & Tumbling All-Conference team. The full team was released by the league office Friday afternoon. The all-conference teams were voted on by the league's head coaches.

Chaples garnered Specialist of the Year for the second straight season and was a first-team All-Conference selection. Kylie Brophy and Gracie Grady were both named to the second team. It is the first all-conference selection for Brophy and second for Grady.

Chaples is the first Crusader in program history to be a four-time all-conference selection. She was a second team selection the previous three years. She competed as a top and a tumbler for the Crusaders as she averaged 9.66 in two different pyramid heats. She also competed as a top in the 7 element acro, an event that averaged 9.52 this season. The Independence, Missouri native was named Conference Carolinas Specialist of the Week and NCATA Specialist of the Week this season for her pyramid heats.

Brophy is a junior that competes as a base for the Crusaders. Her specialty is in pyramid heats as she competes in compulsory pyramid and all three pyramid heats. The Fort Myers, Florida, native competes as the bridge in all pyramid heats which have adjusted averages of 9.66, 9.66, and 9.8 respectively. Kylie also received NCATA Specialist of the Week and NCATA Specialist of the Week Honorable Mention this season.

Grady is back on the all-conference team for the second straight year and competes as a base for The Abbey. The sophomore from Kyle, Texas competes in compulsory acro and pyramid and bases the 5 element acro that had an adjusted average of 9.35 this season. She also bases 6 element acro that has an adjusted average of 8.88.
