BELMONT, N.C. — The Belmont Abbey acrobatics & tumbling team celebrated its 14 seniors with a 253.925-242.310 victory over the King Tornado Wednesday evening at the Wheeler Center.
Wednesday's meet marked the regular-season finale for both teams and with the win, the Crusaders clinch the No. 4 seed in the Conference Carolinas tournament and will host a quarterfinal meet next week.
The group of 14 seniors were recognized in a post-meet ceremony. They are:

Belmont Abbey closes the regular season with a 5-4 overall record and 5-3 mark in league competition. King is now 4-6 overall, 3-5 in league play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Event 1 — Compulsory
The Crusaders opened the meet with three scores of 9.0 or higher and earned a total of 35.85. Belmont Abbey's best score came in the Pyramid Heat, scoring a 9.7. In the Toss Heat, Belmont Abbey scored a 9.6 as well. King finished with a 34.35 in the event.
Event 2 — Acro
King had a slight edge in the event scoring a 28.05 compared to a 27.7 for the Abbey. Belmont Abbey's best score came in the 5-Element Acro (Heat 1), scoring a 9.75/10.
Isabella Schrout,
Gracie Grady, Terrell,
Valentina Ordonez and
Mackenzie Linegar all contributed to the score for the Abbey. The Crusaders also had a 9.45/10 in 7-Element Acro.
Event 3 — Pyramid
Belmont Abbey scored a 28.55 compared to 25.9 for King to take a halftime lead. The Crusaders finished with scores of 9.45 or higher in all three heats, highlighted by a 9.6/10 in the Open Pyramid. Pipes, Terrell,
Kylie Brophy,
Kristin Fary, Linegar and Woolard all participated in the heat. The Abbey led 92.1-88.3 at the half.
Event 4 — Toss
The Crusaders finished with a 25.65 compared to a 28.5 start value and earned scores of 8.4 or higher in all three heats. The 450 Salto Toss proved to be the best score for the Abbey with an 8.80/9.3. King finished with a 24.55.
Event 5 — Tumbling
The Crusaders extended their lead with a 49.575 in the Tumbling event.
Sadie Hunt scored a 9.0/9.4 in the 6-Element Pass to lead the individuals while she and Gaby Cox led the group passes with an 8.3/8.85 in the Duo Pass. Madison Quinla scored an 8.725/9.1 in the Open Pass while she teamed up with Woolard and Chaples for an 8.0/9.1 in the Trio Pass.
Event 6 — Team Event
Belmont Abbey closed the meet with a 90.52. Lander ended with an 89
