MONROE, N.C. — Paeton Phillippi finished with a pair of rounds in the 70s and sits in the Top 20 following the first 36 holes of the Jerry Surratt Memorial Intercollegiate Monday at Stonebridge Golf Club.
 
The junior opened with a round of 77 (+5) before closing with a 2-over par round of 74. She is tied for 18th with three other competitors. Ella Wiklander had the other round of the day in the 70s, matching the 74 that her teammate had in the same round.
 
The Crusaders have a total of 11 student-athletes competing in the event (two teams and one individual). The two teams for Belmont Abbey are in 14th and 16th place, respectively.
 
The tournament concludes Tuesday with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
