HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — Ashlan Tresca found herself in the Top 20 on the leaderboard as the Belmont Abbey women's golf team returned to the course for the opening round of the Battle of Hilton Head Monday at Palmetto Dunes.

Tresca opened the tournament with a 78 and is tied for 16th with six other golfers after the first 18 holes. She closed her round strong by finishing 1-under par over her final six holes, including two birdies.

As a team, Belmont Abbey sits 10th after an opening 325, just behind McKendree (324) and ahead of North Greenville (326). Wingate (301) leads the tournament followed by Oklahoma Christian and Montevallo.

Bridget Forgatch and Ella Wiklander had the next two best scores for The Abbey with an 81 and 82, respectively.
