BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Belmont Abbey women's golf team returned to the course for its second tournament of the season Monday at the King Invitational at the Golf Course of Bristol.
 
Bridget Forgatch and Paeton Phillippi led the way for the Crusaders with rounds in the 70s as the team sits tied for fifth with Trevecca Nazarene after opening with a 322 total.
 
Forgatch shot a 78 (+7)  while Phillippi opened with a 79 (+8). The two freshmen competing for The Abbey, Bethany Welch and Ella Wiklander, finished with rounds of 82 and 83, respectively. Ashlan Tresca finished with a round of 87 to round out the team.
 
Converse leads the team competition with a 308 followed by Tusculum (314) and North Greenville (316).
 
Reagan Padilla of Tusculum currently leads the medalist honors after finishing with a 2-over par round of 73.

• The tournament concludes with the final round Tuesday. Belmont Abbey is set to tee off the No. 10 tee starting 9:15 a.m. with host King and Trevecca Nazarene.
