GREENVILLE, S.C. –- Belmont Abbey has been picked fourth in the Conference Carolinas Preseason Men's Volleyball poll, the league office announced today. The Crusaders received 35 points, just one shy of third-placed King.
Defending regular-season champion North Greenville was the favorite with 49 points and seven first-place votes, while Erskine earned the other top ballot and is second with 39 points.
Mount Olive was picked to finish fifth with 24 points followed by Barton and Lees-McRae in sixth with 17 points each. Emmanuel was picked eighth with seven points.
In addition, three Crusaders were listed among the league's Players to Watch, including 2023 Third-team All-Conference Carolina selection Ethan Rehman (MB, Jr., Johnston, Iowa). Freshman setter Joe Morris, (Bethesda, Md.) and
Zach Puentes (OH/OPP, So., Wellington, Fla.) were also listed.
Belmont Abbey opens its season on Friday, Jan. 12 at the Battle 4 the Boardwalk in Atlantic City, N.J. The conference tournament begins on Tuesday, April 16 with the semifinals and final being held at The North Charleston Athletic Center in North Charleston, S.C. on April 19-20.
