GREER, S.C. – Paeton Phillippi helped set the pace for the Belmont Abbey women's golf team by shooting a 1-over par 73 to help the Crusaders take the lead following the opening round of the Fall Upstate Intercollegiate hosted by North Greenville Monday at Greer Country Club.
 
Phillippi is one of five Crusaders in the Top 10 of the tournament as The Abbey brought two teams to compete at the event.
 
Phillippi leads by three shots over Jasmine Sachdev of King followed by teammates Chrissy Popovich, Ella Wiklander and Bridget Forgatch, who all are tied for third after shooting rounds of 78. Additionally, Kyleigh Whittemore and Ashlan Tresca are tied for ninth after both opened with an 80.
 
Belmont Abbey A finished with a 309 total after the first 18 holes followed by King (320) and North Greenville A (324). Belmont Abbey B (329) is close behind in fifth place.
