ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – The Belmont Abbey women's golf team returned to the course following a week off to open play at the St. Simons Intercollegiate Monday at the King and Prince Golf Resort Monday.
 
After the first 18 holes, the Crusaders currently sit in 12th place following an opening round total of 324.
 
Ella Wiklander and Paeton Phillippi opened the tournament with rounds of 79 to lead the Crusaders and are tied for 28th in the medalist standings. Ashlan Tresca opened with an 82, Bridget Forgatch shot 84 and Kyleigh Whittemore rounded out the Abbey team with an 89.
 
Host Lincoln Memorial leads the tournament with a 299 ahead of Shorter (308) and Catawba and Erskine, who are tied for third after rounds of 312.
