HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Belmont Abbey acrobatics and tumbling team recorded its first victory of the season as they defeated Coker 254.540-252.220 Saturday.
The Crusaders got off to a good start in the first event, highlighted by a 9.3 in the Compulsory Toss. The best score of the Acro event came in the 7 Element Heat where
Desislava Yordanova,
Aspen Terrell,
Molly Hanley and
Anna Davis combined to score an 8.8.
The Abbey scored a 9.0 and 9.3 in Heats 2 and 3, respectively, of the Pyramid Event.
In the 450 Salto Toss Heat, Hanley led a team consisting
Madison Quinlan,
Kristin Fary,
Aspen Terrell,
Emily Wueste and
Anna Davis to match a program-best score of 8.85. That was followed by an 8.6 in the Open Toss Event with the team of Yordanova,
Blythe Terrell,
Bri Camp,
Deanna Woolard and Tatiana Hogan.
Desislava Yordanova and
Molly Hanley gave the Crusaders their two best scores of the Tumbling event. Yordanova scored a 9.675 in the aerial pass while Hanley earned a 9.1 in the 6-element pass.
The Abbey closed the meet with a 90.840 in the team event to earn the win.
